Developed from our bread waste material, this installation draws on Puerto Rican topography, with each of the nine panels representing a unique landscape. Precision CNC milling and careful casting merge technology with sustainability, creating lunar-like textures. This piece highlights the potential of waste-based materials in commercial design while rooting it in local context.

REFLEJOS DE UNA TIERRA EN MIGAJAS

This installation evokes a poetic image of fragmentation, likening it to scattered bread crumbs representing something once unified now dispersed, capturing societal disorder or conflict through fragmentation.

Manufactured from our bread waste material, this installation draws on Puerto Rico's diverse landscapes—translating mountains and rivers into abstract, lunar-inspired textures across nine segmented panels.

This project began with an in-depth analysis of key terrains in Puerto Rico, selecting sites like El Yunque and Toro Negro to digitally 3D model and capture their unique features.

Technical drawings played a fundamental role in developing the project, providing precise and detailed visual representations of the piece. These drawings allow us communicate the design intent, measurements, and specifications clearly, ensuring accuracy throughout the manufacturing and installation process.

Digital Modeling

The manufacturing process of the piece began with CAD modeling to accurately recreate key topography using data from Puerto Rico's landscapes.

Mold Making Process

Molds were then fabricated to cast the bread waste material into each segmented panel.

CNC Milling

CNC milling was used to refine the intricate surface texture, bringing the topography to life. Each piece was then meticulously sanded and polished, enhancing its details and achieving a smooth, tactile finish.

This installation embodies the intersection of design, sustainability, and technology, using innovative materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to create a narrative that ties local landscapes to broader societal reflections. Installed at the Royal Room of the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Condado.
