Taking into consideration the historic context of Old San Juan and the existing materials in Café Caleta, these tile designs were fabricated to create a complementary tile pattern to accentuate specific areas in the restaurant. 

Made out of coffee waste, these tiles not only seamlessly integrate with the rest of the space, but also present a sustainable solution that subtly stands out in terms of material use and texture. 

Due to the organic nature of our waste-based materials and production process, no tile is exactly alike in terms of color or texture, adding to the unique character of the composition and hinting at the materiality and craftwork behind each product.

These material characteristics offer a distinctive sustainable solution for interior spaces that promotes local production while minimizing local waste.

For Mucho Gusto’s ice cream shop in Río Piedras, we had the pleasure of producing custom countertops, a 6-foot bench, and bespoke pendant lights. Our waste-based terrazzo material, a fusion of residual wood fibers and coffee waste fragments, graces the countertops, finished with a warm gloss sheen, enveloping their ice cream offerings. 

We also designed a welcoming 6-foot bench for their entrance, where you can sit to savor a scoop or two. 

This bench features our waste-based terrazzo surface atop a maple plywood base. 

As a finishing touch, three single pendant lamps, designed with our coffee waste material, illuminate the countertops, adding both warmth and practicality. 

Custom, waste-based buttons were designed for slow-fashion brand YAYI’s clothing collections.

Residual wood fibers and coffee waste were sourced locally, processed at our studio and turned into raw material that was then used to design each button. 

These buttons are not only sustainable and non-toxic, but they’re also durable and water-resistant, ensuring they can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.

Both brand’s commitment to sustainable practices and materials are evident in the thoughtful design and production of these distinctive buttons.

This limited edition chess set was designed in collaboration with Objetos Mecanizados. 

The chess board was designed, fabricated, and CNC milled using our signature coffee and plantain waste-based material. 

Brass and copper chess pieces were designed and manufactured by Objetos Mecanizados with scrap metal rods.

The result is a one-of-a-kind collector’s item that combines waste-based materials with local manufacturing.

In collaboration with MUNS, we developed a custom jewelry keepsake. A limited edition and custom item, it is meticulously designed with unique materials and finishing details.

Minimizing waste in MUNS's production chain, we designed a custom material made from linen offcuts sourced from their clothing collections.

Working together on the product's initial concept, we set design parameters and created a 3D digital model of the keepsake. From this model, a full-scale prototype was fabricated to produce a custom reusable mold, allowing us to efficiently produce multiple quantities of the same product.

Each piece undergoes detailed hand-finishing, including sanding, polishing, and the application of natural sealers. The result is a one-of-a-kind keepsake that combines sustainability, functionality, and local design.

Zoils & Pigments, a company specializing in native soil-based pigments for watercolors, approached us with the idea of developing a watercolor palette using our pine waste-based material.

In a seamless partnership, they designed the palette, sent us the prototype, and we developed custom molds for the production of the palettes in our material.

Zoils then adds the final touches and incorporates their soil-based pigments to create a stunning and sustainable watercolor experience.

These custom trinket plates were produced for an intimate wedding.

The bride’s father, an architect, requested these specially designed custom trinket plates made from our pine waste material. 

They were developed as special gifts for each guest, a way to express appreciation and ensure a lasting memory of the special day. 

A collaborative design effort with the client resulted in an organic, asymmetrical shape with a subtle embossing of the bride and groom’s initials, adding a personal touch to this one-of-a-kind memento.
